Diesel Hydraulic Fire Water Pump Systems

Project description

Under an EPCI contract, MODEC has delivered the FPSO PVSM to BP Exploration (Angola) Ltd. The FPSO will operate in the north-eastern sector of Block 31, roughly 400km from Angola’s capital Luanda. BP is the operator of Block 31, holding a 26.27% share, while the concessionaire SonangolE.P. holds 25%, SonangolP&P holds 20%, Statoil Angola holds 13.33%, Marathon International Petroleum Angola Block 31 has ten percent and SSI 31 has a five percent share.

For this project we successfully tested and delivered a total of three 1650 m³/h Fire Water Pump Systems. Each system consists of a hydraulic driven lift pump, installed below the water line, delivering water to a below deck mounted diesel driven booster pump. The control philosophy is designed for full autonomous operation. Design, construction and testing according to the requirements of ABS, BP and NFPA-20 is all done in-house.
